EL CINE in partnership with Bob Baker Marionette Theater Present “Jueves de Horror” starting October 3rd and will wrap Oct 17th
El Cine, a 501-C3 organization promoting Latin culture through film has found its new screening home in the respected Bob Baker Marionette Theater in Los Angeles, Ca. Starting in October 2019, El Cine in partnership with Bob Baker will screen a series of horror films including “The Faculty”, “El Santo vs. Hmbres Infernales”, and “Cronos”.
In an effort to preserve and recognize films that have shaped the Latin culture in America, El Cine has been successfully hosting a variety of screening events both educating and entertaining those who create the films and support them as well as introducing Latin cinema to those who have yet to experience it. Each year, El Cine has connected Latin stars such as Danny Trejo, and Jacob Vargas to sold out events and is now including Latin television series such as MR. IGLESIAS from Netflix starring Gabriel Iglesias, Jacob Vargas.
The Bob Baker Marionette Theater is Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #958. With over 300 performances a year, utilizing over 2000 handcrafted puppets, the Theater caters to birthday parties, school groups, weddings, and community functions of all sorts. After 50 years of magic, having entertained over one million children of all ages, we are proud and excited for 50 more years of pulling the strings of family fun!
In February of 2019, the Theater was proud to announce their new home at 4949 York Boulevard in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. This exciting location, housed in a 1923 former vaudeville Theater, continues their mission to educate, celebrate, and rejuvenate puppetry and the allied arts. Ongoing partnerships in the new home include film, music, conversation series, and explorations of the wide range of source material in the Bob Baker archive and collection.
